A concept inspired by artist [[Ron Cobb]]'s work on the 1979 movie, [[Alien]]. For the movie Ron Cobb created a series of [[signs]] referred to as "Semiotic Standard for All Commercial Trans-Stellar & Heavy Element Transport Craft", or simply [[Semiotic Standard]]. This human-centered design standard was, in the world of the movie, a set of thirty-five signs used to plainly indicate essential information to the crew of the USCSS Nostromo. The Semiotic Standard is an impressive piece of world-building and the designs are quite beautiful. True! But to me, it's much more than that.
